Fall 2022In the Fall semester, students participated in a number of events to enhance their learning, communication skills, and critical thinking. The elementary students visited the Amazeum in Bentonville. This museum was hands on and interactive. The students enjoyed exploring machines, circuits, and different logic puzzles. They were also excited to eat lunch at Whataburger on the way home! Later in the semester, the High School Students headed to Branson to work though an Escape Room!! The teams had to work together to solve problems and puzzles, and escape before time was up!! Each group was able to escape through team work and critical thinking. The High School students also ran a canned good drive to help the school pantry give a bit of extra food over the Christmas Break. High School students also read Christmas/Winter stories to the elementary classes. The kids loved having big kids come in and read! Spring 2023Upon returning to the school year after Christmas Break, the 5th-6th grades participated in Story Store. Schools from surrounding areas submitted parts of a story that Williams Baptist Theater Group put together into a play. Our students were "honored" at the production because they ended up being the base of the story! Some of the Middle School GT kids also got the opportunity to attend Girls of Promise which is a STEAM conference for 8th grade girls. It teaches them about the careers that are available to girls in STEAM. Some of the High School students were also able to attend the Twin Lakes Playhouse production, "Whodunnit?" This was a murder mystery play where each night of production, the audience gets to vote who they think "dunnit," creating a different ending each night. The night we went, they were recording, so we stuck around and got to watch each of the endings! Some High School students were also able to participate in a Hospital tour where they got to visit the Sim Center and learn how to draw blood out of a simulated arm. They also learned about different departments in the Hospital that they could choose to work in if they go in to the Healthcare field. It has been a busy year!

Viola High School's Gifted and Talented students along with other teacher-nominated students are invited to attend our Washington, D.C. and New York trip in the summer of 2022. This trip will take students on a journey to our nation's capital where they will explore history over the centuries as well as connect with other students along the way. From the Lincoln Memorial to the 9/11 Museum, students will experience close-up the milestones of our country and grow in both their love of learning and love of our country. For more details about the trip or to enroll, please see the EF Tours enrollment page link below. |
**THIS TRIP IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE DUE TO COVID-19.
Viola High School's Gifted and Talented students were invited to participate in an educational WWII tour of five countries in Europe in July 2020. With the trip quickly approaching, students are preparing by breaking down their packing lists, applying for passports, and learning how to fit all of their personal belongings into one very tiny carry-on suitcase. Yikes!
All in all, students and parents alike are beginning to embrace the excitement of an adventure abroad and the educational experiences such a trip will entail. For more information and to enroll on our trip, visit our EF Tour Enrollment Page below.
**This trip is reserved for GT students and their parents/guardians.
